ICF forming, structural epoxy dowels, and a custom concrete mix that sets harder than standard. Every walk-out we build follows this sequence.

Two starting points. Both need a site review before any ground moves.
Permit Drawings Exist.
We review your structural drawings and walk the site against the engineered plan, checking scope, access, and any conditions that could affect the opening.
No Drawings Yet.
We bring our structural engineer to the site. Together we assess the existing foundation, confirm the opening size and load path, and produce drawings before work starts.
The Build. Seven Steps.
Hand Dig to Footing.
Below the bench, we hand-dig to the bottom of the existing footing. The base gets cleared and leveled before anything else goes down.
Drainage and Plumbing.
With the footing exposed, we sort out drainage before forming begins: weeping tile connections, any plumbing rough-in, and sump pump tie-ins. Water gets a path before the concrete goes in.
Drainage Stone and Foam.
We lay 3⁄4″ clear drainage stone across the base, then set 4″ XPS high-density rigid foam on top. The foam breaks the frost plane and cuts thermal loss at the foundation.
ICF Blocks and Rebar.
We set ICF blocks to form the shape of the walk-out opening, then cut and position the rebar ladders. Each ladder gets dowelled into the existing foundation with high-performance structural epoxy.
Concrete Forming.
With ICF set and rebar confirmed, we form to drawing specification. Bracing, ties, and alignment get checked before the pour is scheduled.
Pour and Finish.
We pour using a custom concrete mix that sets harder than standard residential concrete. Once placed, the surface is finished to specification and left to cure before backfill begins.
